MKE 2017 Week 9 – Thanksgiving

And once more I’m amazed about the changes when I observe my own behavior, this time arriving in Seattle after traveling 19 hours. I left home at 4AM CET for a 6:30 flight, enjoyed a layover in Amsterdam and finally arrived central Seattle at 2PM PST. Needless to say I was pretty worn out and tired when I headed for Kings Street Station aiming for the Amtrak to Portland.
Learning that all trains were sold out for the next few days would have knocked me of balance just a few short years ago, I couldn’t even fathom this to happen in a, so called, civilized society.
Now, asking the clerk about alternatives, I checked with two bus companies, once more learning that everything was sold out for the rest of the week…
Let’s say this left me feeling as an ignorant European, for the first time ever understanding the real importance of Thanksgiving here in the USA.
Anyway, surprising myself with my calm and serenity despite the unexpected and forced change of travel plans I reserve a rental car for the next day (didn’t really trust myself driving after all those hours traveling) and found a hotel nearby to accommodate me for the night.
Now, the original plan was to continue to Portland, stay there at a friend’s place over night and pick up a rental the next day continuing to Santa Cruz for Thanksgiving and meetings with biz contacts. Starting the drive in Seattle adds another 3.5h of driving time to the trip, which I frankly wasn’t too stoked about initially.
As it turns out this whole unfortunate situation was a proverbial blessing in disguise as I desperately needed time for myself. Time to think, feel, learn, explore and process, time for the hard mental labor.
I arrived in the Santa Cruz area, Scott’s Valley to be precise, in a much better  mental and emotional state than leaving Stockholm.
And well in time to attend the first real American family Thanksgiving dinner in my life – it was amazing!
1.There are only three things which can possibly be desired in the “world without” and each of them can be found in the “world within.” The secret of finding them is simply to apply the proper”mechanism” of attachment to the omnipotent power to which each individual has access.2.The three things which all mankind desires and which are necessary for his highest expression and complete development are Health, Wealth and Love. All will admit that Health is absolutely essential; no one can be happy if the physical body is in pain. All will not so readily admit that Wealth is necessary, but all must admit that a sufficient supply at least is necessary, and what would be considered sufficient for one, would be considered absolute and painful lack for another; and asNature provides not only enough but abundantly, wastefully, lavishly, we realize that any lack or limitation is only the limitation which has been made by an artificial method of distribution.3.All will probably admit that Love is the third, or maybe some will say the first essential necessary tothe happiness of mankind; at any rate, those who possess all three, Health, Wealth, and Love, find nothing else which can be added to their cup of happiness.”
Charles Haanel “The Master Key System”, Part IX
From what I’ve discovered for myself it all comes back to spiritual health and well-being. I just don’t believe that health, wealth and love are possibles if one carries a black hole in his soul!
